CAP1145 - CAA Review of Safety in Offshore Helicopter Transport

In 2014 the CAA published its Safety Review of Offshore Public Transport Helicopter Operations (CAP1145) which contained over 60 actions and recommendations, including the directive that:

With effect from 01 April 2015, the CAA will prohibit helicopter operators from carrying passengers on offshore flights whose body size, including required safety and survival equipment, is incompatible with push-out window emergency exit size.

As a result of this, Step Change in Safety, together with Oil & Gas UK established a CAA approved measuring protocol for offshore travellers.

ABZ Global Perspective are currently able to not only measure offshore travellers, but can also offer Train the Measurer Courses, following the accredited  measurement programme established by Dr Arthur Stewart of Robert Gordon’s University in Aberdeen. 

Measurements will be taken with an approved set of callipers and we will issue a certificate allowing quick and easy recording of your passengers shoulder size into VANTAGE or similar systems before they travel.

Ideally training groups of 6 to 8 at a time to become measurer's, we do however, provide training for smaller groups (subject to additional requirements to meet test specifications). Distance and location, national or international, no object and will happily measure individuals.

Approved callipers are available to purchase from us on request and completion of training.
